The big political loophole

Some are created more equal than others

They say most politician starts out as simple people with a vision to change the society, with their way of righteousness and then change themselves. Like an honest man and a politician can't share the same grave, self righteousness and politics don't go hand in hand. Politics have many faces doesn't it? Propaganda, corruption and greed.

So when a sex scandal involving a lot of Maldivian politicians got hold of the wind, I was thinking that the whole lot of them were gonna get it. Get prison sentences, have to resign from office, etc... you get the drill. If you are wondering how a large number of politicians got caught is a sex scandal all at once... if you are the curious type, here is the story in short. And, no, they weren't caught red handed orgy.

• A Maldivian 16 year old genius thinks the best way to contribute to the society is by blackmailing the leading politicians for his own financial gains. He threw in a couple of innocent people into his crafty trap, normal guys and gals... and gals from his home state/city. Now there is a sex pervert if you never seen one.
• He and a couple of his friends create Facebook accounts and use it to get close to politicians sitting in the parliament and head offices of the country.
• Once they entrapped the unsuspecting stupid politicians they get bagged and tagged, contact number and everything. A fine prerequisite for blackmailing
• A majority of the Maldivian politician that got caught in the net didn't have any problem showing of their assets on webcam to videos of a girl showing of some skin... on cam. Some did it in the privacy of their own hotels and resort, safely away from the unsuspecting spouse. Others did it in the privacy of their government office. What none of them suspected was that they were giving away blackmailing material that could be (and was) used against them. And that too to a recorded videos of a girl on cam, the most common trick in the book. Hello.... is this the 1990s we are living in? This had been done so many times before, were they all so desperate to see a European chick pull it all down on a friggin' camera that they didn't even suspect a little about the ill intent of the whole thing?
• So... everything goes according to plan. The kid had enough material to blackmail the politicians until their office IN tray turned black. The politicians, under the safety cover of the 'blackmail' label, covers it up when the whole thing came undone to the public ears. The kids were arrested and mums the word on the politicians involved in this scam. The police assured us that it was a 'massive' number.

Since this country has not even a half a million people and a small portion of that as real politicians (the rest are all actors), I think they all got caught in this so-very-obvious scam. In another country, this would have been followed by resignation of the 'victims' from their holding position and if they did not, then the political machine should be able to force them to do so. But not in this case. No one resigned, no one's taking the initiative and everyone is just hoping that all Maldivians forget the time when the people elected to lead the country chose to be horny cheating bastards.

If the politicians are normal people and from what I gather there are normal people involved in this case, they would be treated like dogs in a country with no dogs. So the politics tag is a loophole to get into the most serious scandalous crimes and get away with it. For instance... yesterday another politician who couldn't keep his junk in his pant had to have his way with a minor... allegedly anyhow. This would no doubt end in the same way as the case less than a few months ago... either the matter would fade away as it gets piled over with more scandals and news or the scumbag would settle outside the court for some large and undisclosed sum of money so that the general public wouldn't know how guilty he/she was.

So come be a Maldivian, so that you could be a mushroom Maldivian politician doing nothing to help the country from the situation it is in. You get a huge salary for worthless service a 10 year old could do better and a fringe benefit... a get out of jail free card. You won't have to resign, period, because being a politician elevates you above the law set for normal Maldivians.

Calling for the resignation of these scumbags right now... if your democracy and liberal thinking reflects in any way on how you behaved, then I don't want it and no one needs it.
